Go Big or Go Home: Elevating Event Experiences Beyond Expectations

Coupa Inspire main stage

I own the brand and creative experience behind Coupa Inspire, our flagship annual conference, the biggest stage we have each year to turn a room full of customers into believers.

Approach

A great event isn’t a checklist of sessions and swag. It’s a story, and every touchpoint either builds that story or breaks it. That’s what I care about most: not “did the keynote look good,” but did the parking lot, badge pickup, hallway conversation, demo booth, and closing night all pull the same red thread through them? One idea, carried the whole way through, so nothing feels bolted on.

Then you punch it. Bold stage design. A reveal nobody saw coming. A moment that makes people pull out their phones because they need proof it actually happened. Big isn’t the opposite of intimate. The best events do both: an epic main-stage moment one hour, a hands-on demo that feels built just for you the next. That combination, cohesive on one end, unexpected on the other, is what changes the name of the game.

Coupa Inspire event experience

The human-first thread

This only works because of how we lead the team building it. Show week is about as much pressure as creative work gets. The same principle behind everything else I’m building right now, freeing people from the coordination grind so they can spend their energy on judgment, is what makes an event like this possible. When the team isn’t buried in logistics, they have the bandwidth left to catch the small human moment that makes the big one land.

What I own

Own brand and creative direction for Coupa Inspire, the company’s flagship annual conference and largest event of the year.

Own keynote presentation design and on-stage impact, from the deck and visual narrative through the big reveal moments that define the main stage.

Set the unifying narrative thread connecting stage design, installations, demos, and customer moments into one cohesive story rather than disconnected sessions.

Lead the team through the highest-pressure week of the year, applying the same human-first principles that protect focus and creativity under pressure everywhere else in the org.

Elevate customer voices as the centerpiece of the event, rather than leading with company messaging.
